Nepal, small but amazingly beautiful natural paradise on earth is the home of world’s highest mountains, historic cities and the rich forested conservation areas and national parks where almost a 1000 species birds, Royal Bengal Tiger, great one horned Rhinoceros, sloth bears, leopard and king cobras trundle at ease. Nature conservation in Nepal is a sample for the world. Having a different bio-diversity and climate in the country it has loads of opportunity to spend time in the national parks for the bird watchers and safari lovers.
Wildlife conservation is a serious project of Nepal government to keep the wildlife safe for our next generations. Wild lives which are in a level of extinct, in danger have been protected in Nepal. From a low land in the south with a tropical weather to the alpine weather in the high Himalayas you can enjoy the flora and fauna. Bird lovers can spend days for Kingfishers, Bulbuls, Indian roller and hundred otherspecies of birds. Summer migrants such as Asian Paradise fly catcher from Sri Lanka and winter guest of Siberia (Ruddy Seldom duck) can be seen in Nepal.
For your better experience of wildlife safari in Nepal we have designed below itineraries in different national parks and conservation area.
1. Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National park is the most famous national park in the country. This is the first national park in Nepal established in 1973. It has 400 plus one horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Sloth bears, bison, leopard and 600 plus species of birds. This can be reached from Kathmandu by 20 min flight to Bharatpur airport or 5 hours drive from Kathmandu/ Pokhara. Two to three nights are recommended.
Types of lodges we can offer as per your budget with local Tharu culture experience, canoeing in rapti river, Jungle walk, and Jeep safari (or Elephant safari- but we are try to minimize the use of animals in safari these days even though Elephant are treated well here and Chitwan wildlife can be sighted more by elephant because of it dense vegetation).
2.Bardia National Park
Bardia is a great choice to see the beautiful Royal Bengal Tiger. We fly to Nepalgunj airport in the west then drive few hours to this national park or take a scenic drive for 12 hours to get here. It is less touristic so more opportunities to sight the One Horn Rhinos, crocodiles, birds and many other species.
We have limited lodges here and home stays could be a unique experience for you. You can also spend a night in tent in the national park here.
3. Koshi tappu Wildlife reserve
This is the perfect place for the birdwatchers. This is located in the east south of Nepal and has very few lodges to stay. As a small number of tour groups visit this place which open the best opportunity for the bird sighting. If you are in Nepal for the birds, no doubt this is the best place. Three nights at least is recommended here.
